This month weīre doing a potluck dinner!

POTLUCK DINNER
We ask everyone to contribute one item to the dinner. It can be an entree, appetizer, side dish, or dessert. The organizers will provide drinks, and paper/plastic goods. If you can bring something Turkish that would be great. If not, thatīs ok, weīd love to try other ethnic dishes as well! If you choose to bring a meat dish, please make sure that it is HALAL so that every one can enjoy it!

KAFKAS (approx 8:30pm)
We will have a performance of KafKas, folk dance featuring drumming from north eastern Turkey, Georgia, Armenia region.

TURKISH SINGING GAME (approx 9:30pm)
After the performance we can show off our singing abilities in a battle of the vocal chords.
We will break up in to two groups (Turkish/non Turkish, men/women, or just randomly). The teams go back and forth singing songs they know until a team hesitates and can not think of a song within the alloted time. In this case, the other team gets a point. Iīm not sure what the Turkish name of this game is, but the game is popular in India and Pakistan too and there its called Anthakshari.

And donīt worry if you lack singing ability. I canīt carry a tune for the life of me...but that doesnīt stop me from trying :)

So cook up something yummy, get ready for some intense drumming, and warm up your vocal chords for a fantastic evening of food and musical entertainment!!!!

PS When you rsvp, please include what you will be bringing - it doesnīt need to be exact...for example, chicken entree, or veggie side dish, is enough so that others can plan accordingly and we donīt end up with 30 dishes of patlican. :)

Nice people, nice food, nice music!
    •  I enjoyed it very much and I was able to meet other people who spoke Turkish.
    •  Amazing food, very friendly people and opportunities for as much Turkish as your skill allows. Dance and music performances were outstanding and helped create an atmosphere of relaxation and good cheer. Song competition was an inspired idea.
    •  very good
    •  The evening was for me a heartwarming experience. The company was welcoming; the conversation, informative; and the performances, delightful.
